Background Noise

Background noise can often spoil what would be a good recording. Noisy environments and loud sounds are ultimately picked up by the microphone(s) and can create a lot of distraction for the listener. In this example, a wedding speech was being drowned out by the loud acoustics of the venue.

Processing Used:

  1. Noise Reduction
  2. Equalisation
  3. Normalisation to increase overall volume

Clicks & Pops

Clicks and pops in a recording are distracting for the listener, drawing them away from the content. Clicks and pops can be caused by many factors including faulty cabling, and unsuitable software settings. In this recording the first 20 minutes of the recording contained audible clicks and pops, while the rest of the recording was OK.

Processing Used:

  1. De-Click & Pop
  2. Slight background noise reduction
  3. Slight Equalisation
  4. Volume Normalisation
